East Mountain Residence

This residence is the first in Northeast Pennsylvania to receive LEED for Homes certification. It is located alongside a quiet lake and is intended to be functional, low maintenance and practical, while taking advantage of the magnificent views, access to the lake and desire to make the outdoors part of the home.

An energy efficient geothermal heat pump supplies the in-floor radiant heat system, air conditioning and hot-water heaters to save on utility costs. Other sustainable systems include the Superior Wall foundations, cellulose insulation, CFL lighting, and the On-Demand Structured Plumbing. Sustainable materials such as fiber cement siding, bamboo floors, zero-VOC paint are incorporated into the project and the new landscape areas were designed to blend into and become a part of the existing woodland landscape, including a raingarden and dry creek bed that will abate storm water runoff.
